I stopped trying to fix myself. 👀 The older I get, the more I question how much of what I once called “beauty” was actually just learning how to fit in. This is part of why I created Functional Beauty. It isn’t about abandoning skincare, makeup, hair, or wanting to look beautiful. It’s about changing the objective. Instead of constantly looking for something to erase, freeze, fill, burn, straighten, shrink, or “correct,” what if beauty became about creating the health that allows your own beauty to reveal itself? Healthy skin. Strong hair. Good circulation. Muscle tone. A resilient barrier. Adequate nutrition. Hormonal and metabolic health. Sleep. Movement. Lower chronic inflammation. That is Functional Beauty. And somewhere along the way, the beauty industry moved further toward alteration. Wrinkles became something to paralyze. Volume changes became something to fill. Texture became something to aggressively resurface. Natural hair became something to tame. Normal pores, expression, and facial movement became “problems.” There is tremendous beauty in no longer fixating on everything you’ve been told is wrong with you. Maybe your strong nose is one of your best features. Maybe your smile lines belong on your face. Maybe your curls don’t need taming. Maybe your face is supposed to move. Maybe looking your age isn’t a failure. Functional Beauty asks a different question: How do I support my biology so the healthiest, strongest, most vibrant version of ME can emerge? At almost 50, that idea of beauty interests me far more than perfection ever could. Can anyone else relate? #FunctionalBeauty #HealthyAging #NaturalBeauty #WomenOver40 #TheBeautyDoctrine
