Yesterday was surreal. A sigh of relief. A moment of gratitude for so many of us who have been carrying the weight and heaviness of this mentally exhausting process of transitioning from a movement to a political party. It has not been easy. For months, we have watched, waited, strategised, disagreed, regrouped and kept moving. There were moments when it genuinely felt like the doors were being closed on us. But yesterday, H.E. Edwin Watenya Sifuna stood before Kenyans and unveiled The Equitable Party as the political vehicle for the Linda Mwananchi Movement, with a clear commitment to rebrand it to the Linda Mwananchi Movement Party. And what made the moment even more powerful was seeing the Linda Mwananchi principals stand together. H.E. James Orengo,H.E George Natembeya, Hon Babu Owino,Hon. Jack Wamboka, Sen. Boni Khalwale, Sen. Godfrey Osotsi, Hon. Majimbo Kalasinga,Hon. Caroli Omondi,Hon. Kawira Mwangaza, Hon Clive Gisairo, Hon Makau, Hon Kibagendi,Hon Simiyu, Pauline Njoroge, Faith Odhiambo and the many leaders, young people, women and ordinary Wananchi who have carried this movement from the ground up. This was never just about getting a party certificate. It was about finding a political home for a movement that Kenyans built with their voices, their energy and their hope. And even now, as millions of our supporters are trying to register, we are still experiencing challenges with the ORPP system. But we will keep trying and pushing so to every Mwananchi trying to register: Dial *509# and use code 100. Be part of building this political home. Yesterday was not the end of the journey.
