this breaks my heart. as someone with OCD, I can guarantee that she has a strong possibility for an OCD diagnosis. a lot of times, we'll have non-distress compulsions during childhood that comes from trauma, and then a traumatic event could happen during adulthood, and we could get angry and irrational, because that part of our brain isn't rational. it's our brain's safety system convincing us that if we do xyz, we'll have guarantee safety. seeing the love of your life get that close to death and you can't do anything about it is something I can't imagine. I wish I could hug her and tell her that it's ok to loosen the reins a little bit

I understand OPs gf is so scared of loosing him, but she does need therapy. As for what 1 commenter said, when hubby and I had kids I decided to be a SAHM and I looked after him as well. I did everything on my own and had my own systems. When I got really ill & hubby had to take it all over it caused so many arguments as like the commenter said, it broke my brain. Even after 15 years it still drives me up the wall with some ways he does things and I just have to walk away. So I understand the commenter
