@whatever_girly16: 🚨Save and review this for your pharm exam or nclex review❗️ Statins = primarily lower LDL cholesterol and reduce cardiovascular risk. Common examples: • Atorvastatin (Lipitor) • Rosuvastatin (Crestor) • Simvastatin (Zocor) • Pravastatin (Pravachol) • Lovastatin (Altoprev) • Fluvastatin (Lescol) • Pitavastatin (Livalo) As a nurse, monitor: • Muscle pain, tenderness, weakness → think myopathy/rhabdomyolysis • CK if significant/severe muscle symptoms occur • Liver enzymes when clinically indicated, especially if symptoms suggest hepatotoxicity • Lipid panel to evaluate therapeutic response • Medication interactions and risk factors for myopathy 🚨 Teach patients to report unexplained muscle pain or weakness, especially with fever or malaise. Dark urine or severe weakness can be a red flag for rhabdomyolysis and warrants prompt evaluation. #statins #nursingstudent #pharmacology #nclextopics #nclexprep
