@mayassanctuary: In rabbits or guinea pigs it’ll never be okay. By stress bonding, i mean deliberately putting them together in a very stressful situation like car ride, a really tight place, ect.. A normal introduction can obviously be stressful. The key difference is whether the stress is an unavoidable part of meeting another guinea pig, or whether the person deliberately creates fear/confinement as the mechanism they’re relying on to make the bond happen. There’s so many reason why you shouldn’t stress bond them but I’ll make a video on that #animal #guineapig #rabbitsoftiktok #stressbonding #notok
THANK U AND OMG YES I’m so heartbroken and FURIOUS about the bonding with the pig room.

Mine took 24 hours to bond after meeting but I also prepared them a week, I would switch their food bowls to get them used to the scent. So when they met they had no issues with each other and started being around each other within 24 hours, eating next to each other and when they started laying next to each other in their bonding pen was when I thought I was good. They never had any fights. This was a photo a few hours into them bonding

Except stress bonding is the solution. It works so good for rabbits and Guinea pigs, bonding regularly doesn’t always work and it’s very important to get ur rabbit or Guinea pig a friend, that’s why stress bonding is the SOLUTION. and ur video hating on the pig room is crazy, did you know vinnie and Pauly are now best friends who clean each other.

hot take but i agree with the pig room.. i would rather not stress them out over an extended amount of time if they aren’t getting along— especially if you have exhausted every other effort and one or both may be aggressive. it’s not worth the blood shed and i would rather put them in more of a controlled environment. i also just think it’s individual to every situation and you gotta weigh which will be more stressful

I used to watch The Pig Room so much but the rabbit bonding really made me rethink it, when I was bonding my piggies i considered stress bonding because I heard people talking about it, but I did research and found out that its virtually useless and does more harm than good. I opted for just giving them the full size of the cage to roam and get used to each other and they bonded in a matter of days (awful lighting in the photo lol)

I’ve loved the pigroom, but the stress bonding just makes me so sad. why rush the process rather than making both of your rabbits uncomfortable for his well being? This just makes me so sad I’m very disappointed.

Stress bonding can work. It should never be the first option though. It’s a last resort

wait, when my dad picked up my guinea pigs, he had to bring them in the car. but these guinea pigs already knew each other because they were together at the shop/pet place (idk what they’re called). is that okay?

It depends, I have a guinea pig that I tried so desperately with almost 12 different guinea pigs and got him neutered- tried with female guinea pigs and he still wouldn’t bond, I eventually bathed them together and now they’re bonded happily together

I don't have enough information to have an opinion on this💔 rn I feel like it should be a last resort since prolonged stress is worse

I have 4 rabbits they're 2 pairs I'm working on bonding together, we're coming to the end of week 8 of dates, before that they were side by side, before that they were in different rooms entirely and had some scent swopping, they spend some time together in this cage and then they free roam the rest of the day and night! seperated into their pairs of course

I was in informed and tryed this with my Guinea pigs quite a few years ago now- it would kinda work for a few days- but it never solved the problem, and I now see that just wast the right way to do it

Very slippery slope, depends what’s the “stress” is. Most Males are extremely hard to bond. Idk I don’t do it personally but “stress” can be literally anything for rodents/prey animals.

For real. If they don't want to be friends after a long time of preparing and work, then they don't want to be friends. Stressing the hell out of them is not the solution.
