@daily.network.new: There are still Indigenous peoples around the world who live with little or no sustained contact with wider society. The United Nations says roughly 200 groups live in voluntary isolation or initial contact, primarily in remote forests across countries including Brazil, Peru, Colombia, India, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea. "Uncontacted" does not necessarily mean they have never seen an outsider. Some groups are aware of the outside world and actively avoid it, while others may have retreated deeper into remote areas after earlier encounters involving violence, disease or the loss of their land. Many survive through hunting, fishing and gathering, maintaining cultures and languages that have developed over generations. One of the biggest reasons governments and researchers avoid deliberately contacting them is disease. Because isolated communities have had limited exposure to many common infections, outside contact can introduce illnesses their populations are poorly equipped to fight. Logging, mining, farming and other incursions into their territories can also threaten both their health and their ability to continue living independently. Follow➡️🧠every single day! to learn something brand new Save this post to remember that completely isolated communities still exist today and share it with someone who had no idea there were still uncontacted people around the world.
