Let It Be, Peace Out and Imagine, just IMAGINE. Some people learned about life from instruction manuals. I had a record collection. Before I had the academic language for alienation, inequality, belonging and becoming, I had music. Questions you could sing. Contradictions you could dance to. Something to keep you company when the answers failed to arrive. Cat Stevens asked, Where Do the Children Play? A simple question. Until you look at what we build, what we bulldoze, and who gets told to move along. We call it development. Progress. Then wonder why the children have nowhere to go. The Beatles gave us Eleanor Rigby. Loneliness had a name. A face. A place in a crowded world where people could pass one another every day and never quite meet. You can learn a great deal about a society by noticing whom it leaves alone. Then came Father and Son. Two people who love each other, struggling to hear each other over what they already know. One has experience. The other needs to have some. Every generation inherits a world and an argument about how to live in it. I have been young enough to resent the advice and old enough to understand the worry. I still think listening would save everyone a great deal of trouble. And love? Oh, we had a curriculum. All You Need Is Love. A beautiful place to begin. Then life asks how you intend to practise it. Can you listen without taking over? Help without keeping score? Stay without demanding that someone become smaller so you can feel secure? Wild World belongs somewhere in that lesson. So does The Long and Winding Road. Nobody promised a straight line. I might have appreciated a few more signposts. 😏 Yesterday taught me how easily memory can become a place we live. Here Comes the Sun reminded me to open the curtains. Both have their uses. You can grieve what is gone and still make breakfast. Sometimes that is how you begin again. And then: Let It Be. That one takes practice. There are things I cannot undo, people I cannot persuade, and endings that will not improve with another cross-examination. Letting them be leaves me some strength for what I can do. Feed someone. Make the call. Apologize. Open the door. Cat Stevens offered a Peace Train. I like the invitation. But somebody has to lay the track, and we ought to ask who can afford the fare. Peace needs somewhere to live. A table. A home. Enough to eat. Room to disagree without being cast out. “Peace out” is easy to say. Making peace takes a little more participation. And John Lennon, stepping beyond The Beatles, gave us Imagine. Just IMAGINE. Before we insist that the world must stay as it is, could we consider how it came to be this way? Who wrote the rules? What were they trying to accomplish? Are we still willing to accept the result? We imagined borders, fortunes, ranks and titles. We taught them, enforced them, passed them down. Surely we can spare a little imagination for how everyone gets supper. That is what I heard in the music: an invitation to pay attention. To loneliness. To children. To the distance between loving someone and listening to them. To the possibility that tomorrow need not repeat today. The records end. We get up. There is a world to live in. Let it be. Peace out. And imagine—just IMAGINE. Then give somebody a reason to believe it is possible. Just Tracy, Just ’Cause — Parsimony. Clarity. Virtue. Under One Sky — HOME Truth • Responsibility • Consent • Always. FOR CONTEMPLATION. © 2026 Tracy Peressini. ⚖️🦉🪽⚜️ #Love #peace #life #truth #imagine
