@pdavisjones: America.gov was released recently in an event that looked more like an Apple product launch than an announcement by the federal government of the United States. In 2025, through executive order, Donald Trump established the National Design Studio, and that put Joe Gebbia, the co-founder of Airbnb and its chief designer, in the White House. That studio led the development of America.gov, which today is an informational tool and tomorrow is promising to become a transactional AI system that, after biometrically verifying a citizen, enables them to interact with the federal government to do things like enroll in Medicaid and renew a passport. There are basically no countries doing anything like this yet, apart from the UAE. And I love this. I think that it's going to help regular Americans understand that technology makes things easier for them. It shifts the culture of what the federal government is about away from bureaucracy and towards meaningful solutions that are centered around users. And it introduces a new layer of accountability. They're promising to replace 29,000 websites with this portal. And if it doesn't work, people are going to let them know about it. #news #politics #ai #Tech #design

I’m excited by this. Ai seems more capable than most admin related government workers.

Giving AI and the government your biometrics? Hell no.

I just renewed my passport. It was such an archaic process. In the world of robots and iPhones we shouldn’t have to hand write a letter to the government and wait 6-12 weeks for a response 🙄

I renewed my passport last year and it's appalling how archaic our government currently is. I sent in an actual paper photo, in the mail with my info on a piece of paper and my old passport. whole thing took like 5-7 weeks or something 😄😄😄 an insane amount of time. Like you'd think we were in the 40s. I had no idea if my old passport (which wasnt expired) was going to land in the wrong hands or all my other personal info. We need something like America.gov

This type of innovation is long overdue!!! I’m so grateful to have a forward looking administration! The overall size of the government workforce is now historically low. This type of innovative development will continue to increase productivity while continuing to trim inefficiencies which benefits us, the taxpayers!!!

I love it and not only will it make life easier, this will shrink the government workers who are redundant. I think the ways in which our everyday lives improve will be huge. This is the way of the world, best get to know it.

I'm a little on the fence... my dad is in his 70's and has a hard time figuring this kind of stuff out. I just hope the older generations don't lose access to things that they need because it's so techy.

As someone who has worked extensively with the government, we absolutely need to upgrade our technology infrastructure to meet 2026 standards. Hopefully, this will significantly reduce wait times and backlogs.

I dont know if i like this simply for the biometric aspect ….. i get a solid verification process but having to verify through that much tracking scares me …. But i get some of it being beneficial but i still would like less government not more

I’m cautiously optimistic. But I can vouch for how helpful AI has been for me and my cognitive issues. Helps me organize tasks and keep track of things.

The people opposing this benefit from the status quo and loopholes of an inefficient government. Our government needs to be 100x more efficient if not more. We are not even close to demonstrating what a $7 trillion budget can do.

it sounds like a massive single point of failure. if every system is centralized into one website if that website goes down it all goes down.

For everyone freaking out about biometrics, it’s just a fancy way of saying scanning your face to prove you are who you say you are. And if you’ve been to Costco, Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, etc etc then your biometrics are already known. You buy something, it’s already collated info. That’s not scary. It’s just the reality we’ve lived in for YEARS. It’s like AI in general; was I enthusiastic at first? Hell no. But this is life now; we cannot put it back to what it was before. So we adapt to the new environment and make the best of it. Sorry soapbox over lol.
