every time he says "she doesn't realize she is" I would ask him, "so what will it take to make her realize?"

Stacy :
I’ve went my entire life not knowing another Stacy and then I get here on TT and my name is everywhere! It shocks me that it’s used by so many people! I never knew!

It's the wedding now, next it will be how you have your house, then it's about the holidays and finally it will be about the babies and how you raise them, get out now!

If she doesn’t know she is doing it then someone needs to tell her.

I'd be worried when she has a baby. But at the same time people know what they do. Counseling is a great idea. And bring the mil in as well.

Time to say goodbye. If he doesn’t say something to his mom, then it will never end.

Absolutely yes she should be worried. He isn’t ready to be a husband if he isn’t prepared to centre her wants and needs over his parents. It’ll only get worse if they choose to have children

In my experience, many couples have to go through pre-marital counseling with the pastor/priest prior to marriage.. Pre-marital counseling sounds like a great idea. And ASAP since the wedding is in 2 months. I do agree with the first poster about mil

If mil ‘doesn’t know she is doing it’ then he needs to sit down and explain it to her so she does know. If he doesn’t fix it now it will never change.

People not knowing what they’re doing is what telling them is for.

Yeah. 38 years ago my MIL tried this. Fortunately her son ignored her. And one of his aunts stepped in and told her to back off.

Have a sit down conversation with him, then get him to sit down with his parents. If not, YESSSS!!! Seriously. YES. LEAVE. My MIL was like this. We went NC, and moved to get away from her. Now? I’m done, I’m out. I don’t want to see anyone again. Also, premarital counselling is ridiculous. You have to get therapy when you’re not married, to me, is a red flag.

I get why Stacey is nervous. But I do not think this situation sounds dire. The conversation about th money was so smart! If they are saying no and the MIL is not guilting them that’s a good sign. . Annoying yes but a reason to not get married no. Premarital counseling sounds perfect. And like for the hotel, I would say no we cannot add them to our block but they can call the hotel themselves and see if there is availability. I think Brian is probably understandably overwhelmed. Maybe Brian need to take over communication with his mom and tell her yall really don’t want any more last minute changes.

I think she should be very worried! How will this mil behave when the couple has kids? Counseling may help Groom understand her feelings, but it won’t change how mil acts. I wouldn’t want to deal with that for every holiday and birthday!
