Former NBA player Jason Collins has revealed he is battling Stage 4 brain cancer. Collins shared his diagnosis in an interview with ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, saying he is undergoing treatment for glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer. Collins, 47, played 13 seasons for six teams and made history in 2013 as the first openly gay active NBA player. Doctors say his tumor cannot be safely operated on. Collins has undergone radiation and is taking Avastin to slow its growth. Collins said he wanted to share his story authentically, just as he did when he came out. ‘This is me.
