A month before my axillary dissection, I spoke to the lymph nodes in my right arm. I explained that some lymph nodes would soon be removed to see if my breast cancer had found its way to them—and that because of this there would be a surplus of lymph. I asked my lymph nodes to sort out how they’d deal with any extra lymph so that my arm didn’t get lymphedema. It worked! I was so grateful for the wisdom of my lymph nodes.
