I can relate to that. My dad was a WWII vet. He went blind and I took care of him when he could no longer move. He also spoke of me getting right with God and doing right by people.

In relationships with our parents, this is about as delusional as it gets, indeed... When you're a child, you hear them shouting at you about the principles you're supposed to live by. But as you get older, you eventually catch them lying, breaking their own rules, and doing the exact opposite of what they forced you to comply with. 😌
