I met Mila when she was still in the evaluation building last Thursday, and I truly wasn’t confident she was going to make it to the adoption floor. When a dog is too scared to come out of their kennel or needs significantly more time they can end up on the euth list quickly. There are so many dogs constantly needing to be rotated through the shelter and unfortunately dogs who aren’t coping well with the environment often need an outcome sooner than the dogs who are. So when I came back just four days later and saw Mila on the adoption floor I was so happy! Right now one of the biggest concerns for Mila is her weight. She is emaciated and needs to gain weight slowly and safely. Giving a dog this underweight too much food too quickly can be dangerous. Mila is currently available for adoption, but I also think she could really benefit from a foster and rescue backing. As more of her personality comes out and she experiences things that may be completely new to her, having people in her corner with the experience and resources to help her through any challenges could make such a difference. •Questions?
