I think that child support needs to be reformed to keep the people who abuse the system off of it. Some people have turned CS into another welfare scam.and they ruin it for people who use it appropriately. Some guys are paying child support because they kept cheating on their wives,so it’s a case by case analysis.

It’s actually pretty frustrating that time can be split 50/50 but because one person’s salary may be higher than another person’s salary (and not talking about huge discrepancy less than 20k per year) that person needs to contribute to the other person’s household. Even though the lower earner could earn more (and has a history of turning down pay raises to avoid being in a different tax bracket) and is more highly educated (masters vs a bachelor’s degree for the higher earner).

We should eliminate this. Divorce should then set a 50/50 responsibility in all cases, unless there are safety issues. I’ll bet the divorce rates will go down. Btw, children that grow up with the father, irrespective if the mother is around, grow up more successful

I am divorcing splitting all assets, I am the father and will be custodial parent with two children that can receive child support. I am main income. I am asking that alimony be waved in return I am not asking her for child support. Is that a fair trade. I am also waving all future expenses from her including schooling. What do u think? She plans to move out of state after divorce

NYS is bananas. You can have 1 less overnight a month, similar incomes and be on the hook for the statutory amount. I know many people in this situation.

using the tax payer argument then needs to have this logic: if parenting time is equally shared and both parents income meets IRS minimums for household size, then child support shouldn't be ordered....

I have (2) boys, I reside in MD / (1) CS order in NY state / (1) CS order in MD / NY state is a very simple calculation ONLY on the noncustodial parent / NY system is better AND CS to the age of 21yrs old is a GOOD thing / MD it’s 18yrs old / CS made my life so much easier, simple, better / now did I like the calculation being 3X’s my mortgage every month - NO!! / my boys are adults now / Yet I am so proud of myself for working 2, 3 jobs to help support my boys / it was hard, aggravating n sometimes felt so unfair / yet I stepped up made it happen n here we are….NOW my paycheck is ALL mine !! Well time to book my next 5 day cruise 🚢 LOL!!!

If money is paid, it should be used only for items for the child. Too often, mothers use it for their own benefit. This is the issue

Why is child support till 21 and not 18 like most states? Why not make it 24, or 30….or 45?!
