These are two still frames from an entire speech, and we cannot know what they were actually looking at or thinking in that exact moment. I’m not claiming otherwise. But honestly, that almost isn’t the point of this video. What I found disturbing was going through the Facebook comments and seeing so many people immediately turn the conversation toward her body: “Are we not allowed to look anymore?”, “Burqa?”, “that’s just biology,” “men are naturally going to look,” etc. And even if those two frames were completely out of context, those comments still happened. People were actively defending the idea that looking at a woman’s body is simply inevitable, or that women should dress differently to prevent it. That’s what I’m criticizing. Not four men whose thoughts I can’t possibly know from a couple of pictures, but the fact that this was the response I kept seeing in the comments.
