@badmommin: 8 years ago, I wasn’t the calm professional you see today. I was angry, reactive, and way too comfortable choosing violence when I felt disrespected. 😅 So consider this series a lesson in what NOT to do during workplace conflict. That anger followed me into my professional life, and this confrontation almost cost me my career. Before I learned how to stay calm, set boundaries, and handle conflict professionally…this was me. #insurancetiktok #storytime #healthcare #fyp #wfh
Are you a Taurus? I wake up and choose violence everyday 😂

This is definitely one of those situations where 2 things are true at once (your frustration is absolutely justified and so are her actions - even though you didn't know why at the time), but yeah taking a step back and a deep breath would have behooved younger you, that's for sure.

I have a bad feeling she was going through something serious in her personal life 😬 but management def should speak to you before giving her work to you

You almost seem uncomfortable reenacting this. That’s good. Shows there’s true growth from that point. I look forward to the next part

I don’t blame you at all. Being given the work with zero explanation is absolutely going to cause resentment and frustration. How are you supposed to know the reason? Also, even if there’s a reason, it’s not fair. Management should pick up the slack.

It prob was some health reasons but if your health is causing you to not complete your tasks then maybe the job is not right fit anymore. Or the case load should be at adjusted correctly to her schedule instead of her sounding like she picks and chooses what to do and then when she can’t get to everything she decides to pass it along. Health is very important clearly but sounds like it’s effecting work progress and that should be addressed as well.

not going to lie, you're valid to feel that way given nothing was communicated to you by either this colleague or your manager. like whatever is happening, you could have been approached so differently or given the barest sense of whatever this situation is. it's also a very real thing that employees with kids are given slack in ways children workers aren't. not defending your responses in this series, but definitely your emotional reactions

you might have had attitude but you weren't in the wrong. she said you wouldn't let her explain but she wasnt even trying to she just kept saying "I gotta go" 🤣

I get it though. I can appreciate that you learned and grew from this experience but I also feel like with the lack of communication you had some justifiable anger here.

It never should have been being transferred By Her if it was with management approval, especially without management talking to you first and letting you know they would be adjusting some workloads. 100% avoidable issue if the manager had done the bare minimum of their job.

Your communication was obviously combative but your questions are valid. This is such a good juxtaposition to your current style! You get the job done and the information needed but you don’t risk your buns to do it now 😂

I definitely blame management for not communicating things to you. I too would be pissed if all of a sudden complex files that needed to be completed on the day appeared in my work queue.
I also think both of you handled this badly. She should have directed you to speak to the manager and you should have gone to the manager too.
But as I said before, experience teaches wisdom.

Ugh what a horrible situation! I totally get your frustration and think that her and management should have communicated things better or made alternative arrangements if she couldn’t keep with her current workload instead of her dumping it all on you. I love your stories though and seeing your growth is amazing! I hope you are so proud of all of the work you’ve done

They shouldn’t be able to put work into your queue like that though. I would think only managers have that power.

I have had this happen before myself. I didn’t call coworker out on it, I just sent it back to her. She keep doing it so I went to my manager. Manager told her she better ask me if I can help her before transferring it and if I said no then she would have to do it.

As a person with medical needs that works from home as a social worker, you never know what’s going on in someone’s life or why they take PTO so much. I love your content.

while your energy was combative, youre not wrong. i had the same reaction before. It's not ok to do that. I just started saying that im leaving at my scheduled time off and if you (management) want it done, then do it yourself. they then realized how much extra was being put on me and backed off.

sooo. not seeing how this could POSSIBLY be justified, her doing this to you. It IS rude and disrespectful of her to move the work around like that.
