Our production db is a copy of our dev database that we moved to prod and never changed. And when we made our dev database, the team didn’t use environments. So our dev server has the naming convention of our prod servers, and the prod database is appended with _dev

this is why people who have worked in start ups don't delete anything even if we verified it with the entire team that it's not being used. cause chances are it's being used it's just not documented

I used to work as a data engineer at a hospital. Back when Covid started, we needed a way to track employees who had it, but wanted it to be a secret as possible for obvious reasons. We didn’t even want the database admin to know. So I created a table called “Daniel test table plz dont delete” in prod. Fun times.

I've worked for a startup before. "backups" "audit logs"??? I am unfamiliar with these words. Sh*t, firearms and alcohol could be found under any desk. It was literally the wild west. I could have dueled coworkers.
