I’m the longest standing employee and I live to tell everyone how there was once a time our 10 person team would eat lunch together and had an espresso machine and we would all take turns making lattes for the each other…I always like telling current employees this story while we wait for our beat up Keurig to spit out our afternoon coffee 😂

The welcome event when I got hired had a full BBQ pig, shrimp, wine, etc. Now it's a "join us for lunch in the dining hall".

When I first started at my last job, the fridge was full, so many snacks, frozen meals, bagel Wednesday’s. By the time I quit, everything was gone and we literally had to buy our own toilet paper because the bathrooms never got restocked

The grocery store I work at puts the shrunk out snacks in the break room. Everything is stale HOWEVER when we get a new item a nice employee buys a couple and puts it in the break room with the receipt and a note that’s says “looked interesting eat it.” And then everything is rainbows and sunshine because it’s not stale 🤩

My dad’s break room has a drink vending machine with soda and water bottles that has always been free and it had been that way since I was a small child 30 years ago. We loved visiting him because we knew we got a free soda when we did. A few years ago they realized they were constantly running out of water bottles and certain sodas so now those cost money and the lame choices are still free 😒

Coworkers have told me they literally hate being in the building on my days off, why you might ask? I make a pot of coffee at 7am a second pot at lunchtime and finally a third before I leave for the day... literally like 8 minutes out of my day and 2 dozen people are happy and yet nobody apperantly knows how a coffee pot works on my days off.

my job used to be known for giving out a bunch of gifts for the holidays, as well as a turkey or ham (or gift card if you're veggie) for both Christmas and Thanksgiving. the year we went to one for Thanksgiving, I knew they stopped caring about keeping people around. Now we get like... a shirt and a cup from the discount section of our company merch store.
