The funeral was over. The food had been brought. The flowers covered nearly every surface in our house. People had hugged us, cried with us, prayed with us. And then… everyone went home. I don’t think I was prepared for THAT part. For days there had been something to do. Calls to make. Decisions. People coming and going. A funeral to plan. Things that absolutely had to happen whether Tim and I could think straight or not. Then suddenly there was nothing left to organize. We walked back into our house… and our girls were still dead. Their things were still there. Their rooms were still there. The life we had been living less than two weeks earlier was still sitting all around us. Except Kinzley and Ellie weren’t in it. That kind of silence is hard to explain. There’s the loss itself. Then there’s the moment life expects you to start functioning inside a reality you NEVER asked for. The casseroles eventually stop coming. People go back to work. The texts slow down. And somehow you’re supposed to figure out what Tuesday looks like now. Not the rest of your life. Tuesday. Or maybe Tuesday afternoon… Because there was absolutely no way I could figure out how to live the rest of my life without my girls. I could barely comprehend what had happened. So I didn’t need to solve my life. I needed to deal with what was actually in front of me. Get out of bed. Eat something. Answer one text. Walk outside. Make the next decision. Sometimes resilience looks ridiculously small from the outside. That doesn’t make it small. Especially when your entire world has changed. If you’re in that place right now, we made The Emotional Pivot to help you work with what’s happening INSIDE when life still expects something from you. It’s free. Link is in our bio. #GriefSupport #LifeAfterLoss #GriefAndLoss #EmotionalResilience #FunctionalEmotionalResilience
