The last Romanov family consisted of Emperor Nicholas II, his wife Alexandra Feodorovna, and their five children (Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, and Alexei), who after Nicholas's abdication in March 1917 were arrested and held under guard first at Tsarskoye Selo, then in Tobolsk, and later transferred to Yekaterinburg, where on the night of 16–17 July 1918, by decision of the Bolshevik leadership (the Ural Regional Soviet), they were shot together with four servants in the basement of the Ipatiev House, and their bodies were taken out of the city, doused with acid, thrown into a mine shaft, and buried in different places, with the remains of most of them discovered only in 1991 and those of Alexei and Maria in 2007, after which in 1998 they were solemnly reburied in the Peter and Paul Cathedral in St. Petersburg, and in 2000 the Russian Orthodox Church canonized them as passion-bearers. #романовы #theromanovs #fyp #TheRoyalfamily
