I think for a while I became so focused on trying to understand what God was doing that I stopped fully participating in the life that was happening in front of me. I got to this point where I was paying attention to everything. Timing, things I had prayed about, doors opening and closing, conversations, coincidences. And eventually I started attaching expectations to those things. I would convince myself that maybe something meant God was leading me in a certain direction, and when it didn’t turn out the way I thought it would, I’d feel disappointed. Then I’d go back and analyze everything again trying to figure out what I misunderstood. At some point I realized how exhausting that had become. I was spending SO much time trying to interpret my life that I wasn’t really just living it. I think what recenter was separating what I knew from what I was interpreting. I could know that I prayed about something. I could know that something interesting happened afterward. But “this is what God must be telling me through it” was sometimes my interpretation. And I started allowing those two things to stay separate. Now when I catch myself doing it, I try to come back to three questions: What do I actually know? What am I assuming this means? And what does faithfulness require from me today even if I never figure out the meaning? Sometimes the answer really is just to leave something unresolved and that’s okay too. I think that’s what finally gave me some peace. #faithjourney #scripture #christiantiktok #spiritualgrowth #GodsPlan
