@drsarahhensley: The social psychology that explains the Lindsay Clancy rollercoaster. If you feel confused by this case, this video is for you. #clancy #lindsayclancy #truecrimetiktok #psychology
Beliefs are difficult to change when they're attached to ego, and that's why people become so angry when presented with information that contradicts their beliefs.

I did a full on literature review about false memories even though I knew the research on this but people refuse to believe it.

💯.. something absolutely awful happened here no doubt about that, but who is responsible for that doing is important! I’m not saying she did or didn’t, just that it should have been handled better!

Do those false memories ever go away and they remember what really happened?

Thank you. This is exactly how I feel. I don't know if she did it or not but there is definitely a lack of evidence that she did 💖

I’m familiar with confirmation bias, but not belief perseverance. Thanks for sharing. That concept is interesting to me. Even outside of the Clancy trial, are judges in our court system ever assessed for that? Criminal and family court judges should especially be assessed for belief perseverance before being permitted to the bench (IMHO). I imagine criminal defense lawyers are already trained on assessing it for jury selection purposes… hopefully.

I actually think her lawyer ran with a strategy that he now regrets. That he manipulated the presentation of facts in manner that made you think the husband did it, and that Lindsey did not do it. However, her lawyer is having regret for that strategy. And now he’s going everywhere he can telling people to stop blaming the husband as he deserves to live a good life as he lost his three children and his wife to her crime that she committed.

I think the inability to bifurcate the trial determined Reddington’s strategy. He definitely could have leaned more into the “where’s the evidence?” the first go-round but then we wouldn’t have gotten Patrick on the record saying everything he did.

I agree. But can we normalize being told things without people putting on their make up or skin care or eating.

When they didn’t bifurcate it, he had to defend as if she did it but was just going for insanity at that point, correct?

Absolutely love how you break this down for those who don’t get it! I might now have the credentials but after a lifetime of trauma/ toxic family situations and relationships etc - I can see through people like I have a sixth sense and from the jump I was questioning alllll of these things! I knew it from the get go that she was innocent and that there was some shady shit going on. So many got so angry when anyone would point out facts bc of all the social psychological coorcement going on
