@daviddrichardsonmd: Blended Vision Cataract Surgery: Less Glare Than Multifocals, More Freedom From Glasses “Blended vision” is a lesser-known cataract surgery option for people who want reduced dependence on glasses without the nighttime halos and cost often associated with premium multifocal lenses. Using enhanced monofocal lenses that provide crisp distance vision while extending focus slightly for intermediate tasks, the surgeon sets the dominant eye for sharp distance and the other eye slightly closer for things like a dashboard, phone, or menu so the brain blends both images. Compared with multifocals that split light and can cause halos and glare, enhanced monofocals don’t split light and carry a very low risk of nighttime glare. Readers are, however, still generally required for extended or small-print reading, especially in low light. Additionally, blended vision may not be suitable for those who enjoy high-velocity sports due to potential depth perception concerns. #cataract #CataractSurgery #intraocularlens 00:00 Blended Vision Intro 00:16 Enhanced Monofocal Basics 00:37 How Blended Vision Works 00:59 Comparison with Multifocal Lenses 01:24 Realistic Expectations 01:57 Depth Perception Caveats 02:17 Choosing Your Lens Dr. Richardson is currently accepting new patients at his San Marino, California office location. Didn’t work for me. My brain didn’t adjust. Distance is good looking out my supposed dominant eye, but it all goes blurry when I open both eyes. Not happy

Anyway to try out blended vision before you commit? I tried multi-focal contacts and those didn’t work out. I’ll probably need cataract. Surgery in the next couple of years. Was just told I have a bit of a cataract starting.
