@dayzie_blu: The TransAmerican indigenous slave trade is one of the most overlooked parts of colonial history indigenous Americans the original people of this land were captured in colonial wars sold into slave slavery, transported out of their homeland and dispersed across North America, the Caribbean and the wider Atlantic world This was not simply for labor. It was also tied to conquest, land acquisition, military strategy, and profit. War produced captives captives could be sold their cell generated revenue the removal weekend in indigenous nations and made colonial expansion easier.. The Pequot war King Phillips war, the Tuscarora war, the Yamasi war and slave rating campaigns in the southeast all produced indigenous prisoners who could be enslaved and or exported. In 1637 Peacock captives replaced a board the ship desire and carried into the Caribbean world later native captives from New England were traced to places, including Barbados Bermuda, Jamaica, Spain, the Azores and Tangiers Virginia law self explicitly referred to Indian slaves. This history is documented in governors journals colonial laws, military records, missionary correspondence and shipping accounts indigenous slavery was not a footnote. It was part of the machinery of colonial expansion. And that history deserves to be recognized and remembered. #IndigenousHistory #FYP #EraseHistory #AmericanHistory #Indigenous.
