@phiwa.the.long.vi: AmaHlubi history did not begin with the Zulu kingdom. Before Shaka’s rise, amaHlubi already had their own political community, rulers and identity. The upheavals of the early nineteenth century disrupted their political centre and scattered different Hlubi communities across regions that later became Natal, the Free State and the Eastern Cape. But political disruption did not erase them. The name survived. The royal traditions survived. Hlubi identity survived across different places.
