hello Mei i hope you're doing well! as a persian we use saffron a lot in food. one method to get the color to activate eve more and get brighter i would recommend instead of hot water, ad an ice cube on top of the saffron. using a mortar and pestle also help significantly. the cold from the ice cube activates much better. let it melt and you'll have a much more saturated saffron ink. hope that helps

for a redder hue its best to use a Saffron perfume oil from arab stores or persian stores. If im not mistaken the name is Zafaran Perfume Oil
