osrs its better to set boundaries and tell them youre not comfortable with them just going to you to vent. itd be better for both parties since the person venting probably thinks since they vented once they've already established a space where they can vent unconditionally and you shouldnt feel obligated to manage a person's mental health regardless of how close you are, especially if you aren't really into comforting them this constantly

I do personally enjoy getting vented to. If you idk find annoyance with people expressing genuine emotions to you then perchance just, don’t do it. If you fear that they’ll do something serious then a good way is to treat it as genuine then as an annoyance :)

This is the truth of being the ‘therapist friend’ behind the screen. No matter how much you try to help them, sometimes they never take the advice, and it really puts a lot of frustration on you. Not saying it’s a bad thing, you keep trying despite the frustration. I’ve wasted energy on so many people, but I kept trying because I know one day. Someone will take my advice seriously and heal for the better. It’s just how it rolls when it comes to online friendships.
