The Contemplator :
One of the things I find most refreshing is meeting people who evangelize without the hidden objective of pulling you into their church or denomination. Their concern is simply to share the Word of God, engage you in Scripture, pray with you, and fellowship with you. I have encountered a few people like this, and what makes those engagements different is that they keep coming back, not to recruit you, but to worship God with you and continue the conversation. You can raise doctrinal or apologetic questions, and they may not always have the answers, but they are willing to go back, study, return, and even ask you questions in return. That makes the exchange genuine and profound. I think that is what evangelism should look like: drawing people toward Christ, not toward our particular church, denomination, or pastor. And if, through that genuine fellowship, someone eventually decides that they would like to worship with you, it should be their own response, not the objective you set out to achieve.
