No. He wouldn't have. That's the point. He ONLY did it for Katara. And that's okay. Let them have their special bond even if it didn't end in romance.

Maybe Zuko would’ve jumped in front of it for anyone…but he CHOSE HER to come with him to face Azula. Biggest moment/test of his life AND HE WANTED HER THERE. 🥰🥰

Every time I see zutara I am ready to write a whole thesis about why it’s so perfect and nuanced and how it would’ve actually taught a lot of children (kataang shippers) nuance and emotional intelligence. But then I remember I’m on TikTok.

it has been said as a counter that Katara would have used the spirit water on anyone and I raise you this... she was about to use it as retinol

I do think zuko would have saved anyone in thr gaang! I really do! but I think if katara was annnnnnywhere in the area he'd make sure she was safe first. the proof is in the second clip like you said.

Keep in mind that by this point, he KNEW Katara was an incredible bender and could hold her own, but in that moment, the idea of her taking that hit and possibly not getting up from it was unbearable to him. I love them. They were stolen from us. Don’t talk to me for 5-7 business days.

i think they forget that yes, even though zuko would have jumped in front of anyone, that there is a narrative and story reason why it was katara and zuko. the writers purposely put those two there to develop their friendship and to show you how far these two have come. plus, saying that he wouldve jumped for anyone doesn’t cancel out the fact that in the story, in the scenes that got written out, animated and produced, he jumped for KATARA

in an alternate universe where zutara is canon, the atla fandom is shaking their heads in disbelief because they feel sorry for us
