@drwendy_physicaltherapy: I want you to lift heavier, but here’s what I mean when I say lift heavier. If you are not struggling with joint pain, you may need to move past the 2-3 pound weights if you’re doing 3 sets of 10. A watering can that is 1 gallon is 8 pounds. Your dog food, your kitty litter, the laundry detergent, your groceries, more than 2-3 pounds. I think we should train for your life and train for independence as we age. Train to live your life and not let your world shrink. As we age, as we go through menopause, there are so many changes. Our muscle is our savings bank, we can invest in our muscles to save future us. Here’s an example, most of my women can do 5-20 pounds for bicep curls. 10 pounds is probably the real average. But if you wonder if you should bump up the weights, if you have more than 2 reps in reserve at the end of your set…you might need to move your weight up.

How many pounds should we work up to at a time? Is it OK to go from 18 to 25 lbs?
