I saw this couple at the airport about two weeks ago. They were buying biltong at one of the entrance counters and I was standing in the queue waiting to get change for my Uber. I was standing directly next to one of their bodyguards. He was a white guy, not wearing a uniform, and he was right in my face. At some point I asked him, completely confused, “Are you guys also buying?” He replied, “MA’AM JUST GIVE US A SECOND.” That’s when I realised they were bodyguards. As the family was leaving I started talking about them with the lady who had served them. She said, “No apparently they’re billionaire tycoons from Zimbabwe.” The lady was so beautiful. They were with two boys and a girl. I remember silently thinking, “God will I ever experience a life like this?” I still remember her hair. So smooth, shiny and silky. Meanwhile I was standing there admiring them completely unaware that I was looking at a family who was about to lose their lives in a plane crash. I’m so hurt. Life is so fragile. You really never know when an ordinary moment might be someone’s last.
