@btnewsroom: "This Cuban neurosurgeon saved my life." Former Italian MP and journalist Alessandro Di Battista suffered a cerebral edema caused by a tumor while reporting in Cuba. He recounts on an Italian television show how Cuban neurosurgeons removed the tumor, despite severe material shortages at the hospital caused by a US "medieval siege" on the island. Despite relying on technology from decades ago and lack of power and water caused by the US blockade, doctors were able to perform a sophisticated operation to save Di Battista's life.
