not a psychiatrist but i do study psychology ! what you're experiencing sounds like trauma. your brain is so used to life being a certain way, that its all it can make sense of. but if you continue to go out more, explore, see more of the world, the more your brain will shift its perception of your understanding of the world. your brain is super adaptable, even after developing trauma ! it wont be like this forever. i'm glad you're still here <3

thank you for sharing this with us!! I'm not a psychologist but I learned about this metaphor in therapy. it's about elephants at the circus, about how a baby elephant gets tied with a rope from one of his legs to a wooden stake on the ground, as a baby he can't move and free himself, and as it grows up he learns that trying to move or escape is useless. then as the elephant is fully grown he still believes that the rope and stake holding him down are permanent, when he's actually bigger and stronger than them now, and could escape if he wanted. someone mentioned learned incapacity? I think that's what's called. when you've been through repeated trauma that makes you feel hopeless you end up believing that things will always be the same and feeling like it'll always be the same. I have experienced/am experiencing that too, we have to keep going and see a better world for ourselves💜 I'm glad you're here!! we're in this together 💜

also it's learned incapacity. there is an experience with fish : in a tank separated in two by a glass, there is a big fish on one side and small fishes on the other. after a time, the big fish stop attacking the small fishes because it encountered the glass to many times. then, they took the glass off and the big fish still don't move, thinking the glass is still there.
