@curiosityinspace: On September 22 2026, astronomers announced the discovery of the first convincing microblazar in the Milky Way, a rare system called IRAS 18293−0941. Located about 12,000 light-years from Earth, the system consists of a black hole roughly ten times the mass of the Sun and a massive companion star that orbits the black hole every 11.38 days. As the black hole pulls material from the star, some of this material is swallowed while the rest is expelled in two powerful jets traveling at about three-quarters of the speed of light. One of the jets is pointing almost directly toward Earth, which makes the system a microblazar. The other jet is moving in the opposite direction and becomes visible when it crashes into a nearby molecular cloud. Scientists believe this interaction can accelerate particles to extremely high energies, possibly reaching the petaelectronvolt range, making the system one of the most powerful particle accelerators in our galaxy. The discovery is particularly important because astronomers have predicted the existence of microblazars for about 30 years, but had never previously found a convincing example in the Milky Way. Wenn der jet 12000 Jahre entfernt ist haben wir uns in der Zeit nicht im Raum bewegt? Und er hat ja nur 3/4 Lichtgeschwindigkeit. Er trifft ja nur unsere Position vor 16000 Jahren.

we saw what was there 12k years ago just in case you think we are still very safe rn
