Look, if I buy a $150 steak, the waitress does as much work as bringing a $15 salad. I'm not tipping based on percentage of the meal. I tip on service! If you keep my drink topped off, check in often, I'll tip great. If my drink doesn't ever get refilled, you never check in, etc. you're getting $10 MAX, likely less. Sincerely, also a waitress

Are you doing the job you signed up to do? No tip. Are you providing an experience or going above and beyond? Tip.

as a general rule, I dont tip if I am standing up. it works in 95% of situations. sitting at home waiting on delivery, tip. sitting in restaurant being served, tip. takeout order or moving through a line where someone is putting together an order, no tip.

Made the mistake of going to Starbucks and IN THE DRIVE THRU they had the audacity to shove the screen out the window asking for a tip. That was the last time I ever went to Starbucks.

why do people think they deserve 20% of the bill...I am sitting next to a table that ordered salad and hamburgers..I order wagu steak ..staff does nothing extra same amount of trips to table ..so why is it expected that I owe more of a tip because my food cost more...the server did nothing more

These people are getting bold with the looking of I tipped or not. I don’t like it because their mood immediately changes

If I’m paying before I eat… no tip. (Delivery is a little different and the tip is based on the delivery)

I was at a candy store. Picked out my own candy. Went to pay and the same thing happened. They turned the tablet around to enter the tip!! Hell no!!

They don’t even have the courage to tell you that it’s for a tip. “ it’s gonna ask you a question”.

Also tipping depends on states now. California and I think Oregon pay servers like $20 an hour now, so the tipping is way more optional. States that pay $4/hr and rely on tips it makes sense. But Cali and like 3 other states have made tipping way more optional. No reason to tip tbh

Idk when I was a server I rarely got tips on takeout and never expected it… I’m not giving you service I’m literally taking an order by phone or online and putting it in a bag?

While I do agree with you and am generally the same way I just still you probably should’ve walked away instead of getting confrontational and giving her a harder time… Maybe more grown men should exercise self control instead of constantly exercising their egos

If I drive to a place to get my order… pick it up and barely talk to them… don’t tip. You walked to me with my food that was it… also… wtf up with restaurants having ur server take ur order and someone else brings ur drinks and food and dessert. Like the server barely does anything anymore at SOME places.
