I disagree having your emergency fund in a high yield savings account. Taxable brokerage account 100%. You can use low risk bond ETFs that yield higher than HYSA, you can also keep 20%ish in moderat risk say VOO, to capture more upside. Over your working lifetime, this builds upnas your hero bucket when you retire

This is simple. My unexpected exp fund is simply my checking account. That’s usually enough to cover most unplanned expenses. Next, My savings has 7-8 months worth of expenses. I try not to use this for anything. Just stowed away in hysa for liquidity purposes. My emergency fund is my brokerage account. If I’m reaching into this account I’m in a pretty bad position financially.

What about keeping it in a money market through my credit union rather than high yield?

How do you choose a company for a HYSA? I think I’m nervous about putting my money somewhere I can’t physically walk into. 😂 My current banks don’t offer great HYSA options.
