This is a good alternative to help. I use it on my head and it stays bald a bit longer than a razor. Men use it on their faces as well.

Thankfully I don’t have to shave my father, but I do give him haircuts and trim his facial hair-with clippers. I get the ear hair and I get a lil of the nose hair.

When your dad having dementia when he acts out or grows more confused and agitated at the same time every day usually in the late afternoon or evening it is called sundowning or sundown syndrome look it up to see how to help him transition. GREAT JOB sis on the barbering skills. Just make sure you clean the clippers and blades after every use and keep them lubricated. I'm a license cosmetologist for 30+ years.😉
