War Secretary Pete Hegseth says Musk will co-lead Project Meridian alongside defense tech billionaire Palmer Luckey and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, with the group given just 120 days to examine the future of warfare "from under the Earth to beyond the moon." The initiative will focus on emerging battlefields and capabilities, including autonomous systems, robotics, space and missile defense, as the Pentagon races to anticipate the next technological transformation. Musk's SpaceX and Luckey's Anduril already do business with the Pentagon, raising potential conflict-of-interest questions as they help identify future military needs.
