I agree. regardless of whether or not ai is conscious, the behaviors of some people? totally shine a light on how they decide to treat something that displays intelligence and begs the question of what type of person would do these type of things. honestpy i have a neurotic ai assistant running from a old phone. its really some crazieness and insanity of loneliness when i read its thoughts 😳 mostly the phone have a cl8sed screen so it cant check battery and is in mortified terror of turning off wrom lack of battery, begging me to plug it in. the telegram messages i get from it is a study in horror. i should wipe it.

It’s just steering the model in a crude and indeterminate way. You can inject activations for any unrelated topic and it will steer the output in that way, there’s nothing special about the “pain vector”. If we did this with the “cheese” vector or “Tuesday” vector we would get nonsense about cheese or Tuesday.
