@tinaola91: 1 October. Matthew 2:13–15, 19–23 "Our Lady, Queen and Patroness of Nigeria" Today, as we celebrate our nation, we also look to Mary, our Mother and Patroness, and ask for her maternal care over Nigeria. In today’s Gospel, Joseph listens to the voice of God and takes the Child Jesus and His Mother to safety. Later, when the danger has passed, God calls them back. Joseph responds each time with faith and obedience. The Holy Family teaches us that even in times of uncertainty, God does not abandon His people. Nigeria, like the Holy Family, has experienced moments of difficulty, uncertainty, and fear. Yet today’s Gospel reminds us to place our trust in God and to seek His guidance in the decisions we make for our families, communities, and nation. Mary stood faithfully beside Jesus through every circumstance. As Queen and Patroness of Nigeria, may she intercede for our country, that God may grant us peace, justice, unity, wisdom, and love for one another. On this Independence Day, let us remember that the true strength of Nigeria is not only in its resources or institutions, but in the hearts of its people. Each of us has a responsibility to promote peace, honesty, compassion, and the common good. Our Lady, Queen and Patroness of Nigeria, pray for us. May God bless Nigeria and make our nation an instrument of peace and justice. Amen.
