Let’s say you’re mid 50’s retired early and have no debt. You have 3 million dollars. If you can get 8% for 30 years do you lock in and just ride that for life?

The Iran war, tariffs, a second round of tax cuts, all signal problems. Add in USA losing global partners to buy debt. So now debt should be more expensive until that is fixed. War and oil drive global problems that raise debt costs

If deficits keep running hot like this, 24-year highs might not be the ceiling. Supply matters as much as the Fed's path.

The longest the 10 year bond went above 5% was 1968 until 1998. It peaked in the early 80s and almost 16%.

Super interesting, thank you for explaining some of these things. It kind of leads me to a million more questions, but this was really informative. So is it worth it to buy into the bond market right now?

If we hit a lower dollar, wouldn't that motivate China to buy bonds so that Americans can afford to buy Chinese stuff, but also it props up their yuan in comparison to the dollar?

It’s not one thing, it’s 5 things all happening at once. Capital costs are going to be higher for a while, even after oil prices drop. This is going to be with us for at least a year, possibly two IMHO. Homes are going to be expensive for a while.

You explain all of this better than anyone Ive ever heard ....I own a mobile home real estate LLC and the worst the housing market get the better my business model thrives ...I buy repossessed mobile homes ...add $40k and list them on 108 month rent to own agreements so the harder it is to buy a house via traditional mortgage companies means more folks come to me to be home owners

Like I have been saying. The coming COLLATERAL CALLS ( selling of all sovereign debt) that is the basis of 300x leverage of equity positions, will absolutely and necessarily cause accelerating losses and forced margin selling. There are generations of investors who have NEVER experienced this.

There’s a lot of crap on TikTok. This post is 100% spot on. Great take. Agree with all of it. Another take is that is healthy to have an actual real cost to capital. For one thing, savers actually receive a yield without having to dive into the equity market. Second, when capital has an actual cost. It gets allocated much more efficiently.
