GLPs have side effects whether or not you’re taking it for diabetes or weight loss. The bone density side effect only happens if you lose weight too rapidly and you are not working to build muscle and change your diet. I’ve also seen that doctors are discovering some people have low signal to the brain to signal that they’re full and that’s why they end up over eating. GLP1s are helping them with actually getting that signal unlike they did before. GLP1s help people with PCOS and their insulin resistance and help people lose weight to help with their sleep apnea. It’s more than just “diabetes or beauty standard”

ngl, I'm a little confused with your wording. you can still get side effects when the medication is meant to help you. my mom is taking mounjaro for her diabetes and I remember it knocked her on her ass for a few months until she got used to it. (tbh i think a good chunk of the side effects are from people going up in dose far too quickly too).

Unfortunately its also just the case with all medications regardless. All medications have the possibility of nasty side effects. I’m not sure why people are surprised GLP-1s of all the meds out there have negative side effects 😭

This applies to celebrities and people who dont have any health issues that make it hard to lose weight, most "normal" people on a glp1 have been prescribed a diet plan and exercise, that doesnt work there medication thats a pill, theres a lot of steps before dr's give you the shot

they are only as dangerous as anything else that makes you lose weight rapidly (like starving yourself). that's why if you ask doctor about it they will tell you to load up on protein and take vitamins and exercise regularly. because otherwise you'll have the same issues as someone who simply isnt eating. your muscle mass and bone density goes down. proper use of the drug and diet will minimize those effects
