I subscribe to Webster’s Word of the Day, and make them the word of the week with my son. I write the word and its definition on the chalkboard in the kitchen and we have to use the word all week so that it sticks. Reading helps too.

A fun game I play w myself is when I’m reading and come across a word I don’t know, I take my best guess at its meaning using context clues and THEN look it up to see if I’m right. This method helps me memorize the word, too!

I hate to say it but watching tv/movies with subtitles, no matter what it is, will also strengthen how you comprehend new words. You can kinda infer the meaning of new words based visual cues.

I wish I enjoyed reading! I’m not able to imagine an image of things I read. I don’t have the same enjoyment other than learning something new or hearing a good story. But I really enjoy learning.

Is actually had the same issue w politics. I felt dumb at first but the more and more I invested in reading articles and listening debates and podcasts the vocabulary started to come with it. I'm able to hold my own when these topics arise. Same with psycology which was another interest of mine. Not until now that this video you called it out that it clicked lol
