Georgetown’s candidate forum on AI data centers and Flock cameras will be this Sunday, 10/4, at the Scott County Public Library (Meeting Room C) from 2-5pm. At least 5 candidates will participate. These include candidates for the Georgetown City Council, the Kentucky House of Representatives, the US House of Representatives, and the US Senate. Unfortunately, it appears that both of my establishment opponents in KY-6–Republican Ralph Alvarado and Democrat Zach Dembo—are skipping this candidate forum, just like they skipped the first two we held in Harrodsburg (8/2) and Winchester (9/16). Honestly, I never expected Alvarado or Dembo to attend. Neither is serious about fighting against data center development in Kentucky because they’re both funded by rich donors—the types of people who are heavily invested in AI and data center development. But if you’d like to pressure them to show up and explain why they aren’t advocating for serious federal regulations on data centers or getting involved in the local fight against AI data centers, please don’t hesitate to let them know how you feel on social media. On the topic of candidates who haven’t agreed to show up: I will also note that, so far, 0 incumbents on the Scott County Fiscal Court have agreed to show up. Neither have the 6 mayoral candidates in Scott County or the County Judge/Executive. They need to be pressured, too. Anyone who’s serious about representing Scott County should be there. If you can’t show up to talk about some of the most important political issues with the people whose votes you want, you shouldn’t run for public office in the first place. #kentucky #georgetoenky #lexingtonky #parisky #versaillesky
