It would hurt any chances of possibly getting a legal benefit should the opportunity arise-a Motion to Reopen would likely fail if the person fails to depart timely of failed to even attend their hearing and were ordered removed in absentia. The “shadows” are no longer as safe as they used to be and it’s not thanks to the current administration but rather the previous one.
