I hear the biggest issues for retirees there are watching you don't give in to lifestyle creep and also have a backup fund for medical and emergency expenses. That way a single emergency won't destroy your finances. My wife is from the Philippines. We may indeed retire there as well. I'm in Manila at the moment.

I did it at 62. Going on five years. Mistake? Not really a mistake. But If I had the experience back then that I have now (going on five years).. I would've Never moved to the Philippines. That being said, I have a nice little family and life here.
