I remember this one time my (Asian) family & I were at a farmer's market and came across a stall that had a box to the side with over-ripe bananas. My dad asked how much for the whole box and the fruit guy laughed like as if my dad was joking. When he realised my dad was being serious, he said the box was free cause the bananas were "past its quality". We took the box and the guy scoffed at us like we were poor and couldn't afford any other "perfect" fruits. Jokes on him, we made hella desserts with all those over-ripe bananas. I can't believe he was just going to throw them out
