The first rule of discipline is not to do it out of emotion. My parents would schedule a time to give spankings. It was very beneficial. When I was 12 it became more effective to take away belongings.

Yesh but you can’t paint every situation with a broad stroke. Spanking is different. I know a number of people that have said because of the tough environment they grew up in there was a sense of urgency to keep kids in the household in line. Sometimes it required spanking. They were actually grateful their parents did discipline that way when necessary because they knew as kids their were off the hook and other forms of discipline were not going to work most of the time.

I feel like hitting and spanking is a little different. I’m grateful I was spanked as a boy. I now have the luxury of growing up to be a decent male where my female friends feel safe around me.
