In CA apply to UCR or UCM bc as california residents we are basically 100% guaranteed into those schools and theyre in the top 50 schools of the nation!! (Fellow practically UCR commited applicany)

You could apply to uc Santa Cruz, uc Merced, or uc riverside which are good but not overly competitive and still UCs

lwk out of state isnt always more expensive, esp for living in ca, i cant give advice on what colleges but out of state can be cheaper. my sister wanted to stay in ca too but went to utah university because it’s cheaper :)

I think it depends on how competitive the schools u wanna apply to are, esp for ur major. Staying instate 100% is cheaper. I say definitely go test optional and just make sure you have damn good essays and include ur ecs!! Also try applying priority or early applications so you can get a slight boost of getting in (like 5%) but im not sure if thats closed alr. if anything, apply to scholarships and safetys around cal so ur not too far and can transfer after 2 years
