@madeformorewithgwen: There’s a big difference between “I can handle it” and “I should have to.” For years, I thought being the teacher who could handle everything was something to be proud of. One more responsibility? I could do it. Something needed to get done after hours? I’d do it. Another thing added to an already full plate? I’d figure it out. Because that’s what we do. Teachers figure it out. But somewhere along the way, I started wondering if constantly proving how much I could handle was exactly why I kept being handed more. And I’m tired of my answer always being: “I’ll figure it out.” So I’m starting to figure out something different. I’m taking the skills I’ve spent years using as a teacher and learning how to use them to build something outside of teaching, too. Not because I’m quitting tomorrow. Because I want options. More income. More breathing room. More control over what comes next. I don’t have the ending figured out yet.
